เซ็นเซอร์ คืออุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ในการตรวจจับวัตถุต่างๆ โดยใช้เทคนิคหลากหลายรูปแบบในการทำงาน เช่น เซ็นเซอร์ที่ใช้ลำแสงในการตรวจจับ หรือใช้เปลี่ยนแปลงของ สี รูปภาพ อุณหภูมิ นำ้หนัก หรือการเคลื่อนไหวในการตรวจจับเป็นต้น โดยส่วนใหญจะถูกออกแบบให้ทำงานโดยไม่ต้องสัมผัสกับชิ้นงาน เช่นพวก พร็อกซิมิตี้เซนเซอร์
